stitches report

This past weekend I flew to Hartford for Stitches East, which is basically a knitting convention for yarnies.  I went to meet Joelle, the color genius, brains and brawn behind Wandering Wool.  I was there to help sell her delectable hand-dyed yarns, as well as to see if I could peddle some of the bags I’ve been sewing (Joelle was kind enough to let me hang them up in her booth).  Here’s a brief photo sampling of the show.

The line at Starbucks all weekend was filled with gorgeous hand-knits.

We liked the food at Royal Massala so much that we went there twice (I’m in Indian food withdrawal these days)!

Joelle and I made cowls from the bulky wool we bought from Kelly at Romney Ridge Farm.  In Joelle’s case, she used a skein of her own “Saranac” yarn for the stripe.  You can see my next color plan on the bottom, and I think Kanitta will share photos of hers when it’s done too!  Joelle and I were very, very tired when we took that picture, so don’t look at the bags under our eyes.  More close-ups and pattern to come!

All in all, we had a good time.  We met a lot of wonderful people (whom I’ll tell you more about in future posts) and learned a lot.  Next time I’m hoping to take some classes from some of the knitting superheros that were there.
