I know it’s kind of a cop-out to talk about the weather, but in Missouri it’s actually a lively topic. The skies here boast some of the most stunning cloud formations I’ve ever witnessed, and the temperature can drop by double-digit degrees within a half-hour.
So today, I’ve had a bit of a headache all day. It came out of nowhere, and it didn’t feel like the bad ones usually feel. Then just a few minutes ago, the sky darkened, the wind picked up, and the black walnut trees were blowing so hard that the walnuts started pounding the roof. Wait, nope. That was hail. Some of the biggest I’ve seen, but not brutal enough to dent the new car. Phew!
Poor Darby started barking because she thought someone was pounding on the door (and the windows, and the roof). Now she’s alternating between pacing around and trembling on her rug. Is it mean to take pictures of her when she’s so worried? I gave her a lot of comfort between snapshots.
